Right now the world can feel overwhelming and scary especially during these crazy times. Everyday can sometimes be a struggle and seem so repetitive, especially if you are working from home, but I always try to do the little things that make me happy. Everyday I wake up and look forward to my coffee or tea in the morning. Sometimes a matcha latte sounds good, or other times just a plain cup of coffee is what I am craving but I make it a point to listen to my body and mind as to what I am craving that day.
Another huge way I try and stay grounded is doing the things I love, I love taking pictures and creating outfits and looks to share with you guys and almost everyday I take at least 20 minutes and shoot some photos or put together an outfit for a photo shoot. Whatever you love try and make even 10 minutes every other day to do it. Read a chapter of your favorite book or make pasta from scratch or paint a beautiful picture. Self love really does help your state of mind!
However, scrolling through Instagram and Facebook and tik tok and twitter are not the best way to self care. I find after hours of scrolling more anxious, whether it be because of the constant red vs blue chatter about the United States or the situation in Lebenan, social media is not always best for mental health. If you feel yourself getting worked up, please put down your phone and move on to something else.
And of course, last but not least, make sure you are getting outside and moving! To quote Elle Woods, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t” so keep up the physical activity and vitamin D even as the weather starts to cool down and remember that there is only so much you can do! So vote, exercise, recycle, and just love yourself.
