If you love Tim Burton, Beetle House is the place for you. Beetle House is a bar located on Hollywood Boulevard, right along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This bar started popping up on social media when it first opened up it’s LA location in May of this year, and I couldn’t wait to go and check it out.
Finally I was able to get my butt down there and it was, to be honest, a little disappointing. There was no line to get into the bar at 10pm on a Friday night. This was both a good and a bad thing. It was good because I did not have to wait in a line, but bad because when I did walk in, the bar was a disaster area. It was so crowded and hot all around the bar, with little order to anything. I was forced to shove and squeeze my way to the front of the crowd to get my drink order in. After waiting in that crowd, all I wanted was the biggest drink they had, just to avoid having to push through that crowd again. I order a fish bowl which contained vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and curacao, all topped off with Swedish Fish and Nerds candy for $25 plus tax and tip.
The atmosphere in the bar was very dark, and it felt like you could be in a Tim Burton movie. There were decorations and paintings scattered on all the walls containing Jack and Sally, Beetle Juice, and many more! There was even an Edward Sissorhands walking around taking pictures with everyone. When I was able to make my way back to my friends, the dry ice in my drink was starting to give me frostbite in my hand. We found a booth where we could sit down and all began to enjoy our fish bowls. About a fourth of the way through, I felt the concoction of alcohol going straight to my head. I drank a little more then half before deciding to give up. After I was done with the deadly drink, we then were able to walk around The Walk of Fame and sober up.
After we got tired of walking, we stopped for some hot dogs at a nearby cart. Finally, once capable, we headed back to the car to head home. Because of the location of the bar, we had to park in a nearby garage and pay $10 just to park. So at the end of the night I ended up paying about $40. This was for a huge drink and parking with a little entertainment and some good photo ops thrown in.
